ok i'll start off saying i have yet to confirm any of this but am in the process of trying.
In my attempts to find the cheapest way for me to get the new iPhone seeing as o2 aren't giving the early upgrade option anymore i stumbled upon this potential little gem.
Essentially lots of companys have a corporate account with o2 to provide their business mobile accounts. ANY employee of this comapany is able to apply for something called an "o2 open" code or card (results vary from company to company). This code can then be used by the employee or passed on to friends or family (used up to a maximum of 6 times per year) to get up to 30% off their monthly bill. Now apparently the current companys confirmed on the list are McDonalds, Waitrose, John Lewis, DHL, PC world, currys, dixons, lloyds TSB. I think the enquiries about this need to be internally but apparently o2 stores carry a list.
I have found out my Dads company has a corporate account with o2 so he's emailed his telecommunications department to find out and is awaiting reply.
i've yet to find out if the company with the account has to sign up for this benefit/pay for it but i see it as o2's way of drumming up a little business via their business users who may mostly get their mobiles for free. though there is very little evidence it exists on the o2 website except for in their T&C.
http://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/currentpromotions#Also yet to be confirmed is wether this discount can be applied to existing contracts or only to new ones (new ones need to be done in an o2 store but i have heard from one person on a forum thay added it to their existing tarriff)
Anyone heard of this before?
or anyone work for any of these companys/work for a company who has an o2 corporate account/ has a friend who works for one who can verify or test the theory?
Seems if its true it'll be a wicked money saver for me at least.
