So who is gonna be trying it this week?

Its got a pretty big hype and its supposed to be really in depth
I know that simulating real life isnt exactly the best thing in the world (like watching TV or listening to the radio in GTAIV) but who are we to say whats "cool"...
we sit at our computers all night anyway simulating cartoon based war fantasies Tongue

Me, in my current state of unimployment (and nothing else to do) will try this game.. it looks like a few hours of fun

(I have also spent the week playing Tiger Woods on my x360 so you can tell how desperate I am for something to do)

Played it for an hour now. Its really cool, actually a redesigned Sims 2 but with new cool features like the dynamic town and youre less reliable to your status bars now (yo know, hungry, dirty, full of jarate). So far, its really funny and entertaining. And lol, my lifegoal: "Become a wellknown police spy"

I want it so much. Alas, exams. And the fact I'm going home in a month, and I'm not confident my laptop will run it. I've always liked the sims games for their secret hardcoreness- if you don't cheat, and do something like the legacy challenge, or actually try making a business, there's a really deep game in them.

Cool, how does it run? I only ask because Sims 2 always chugs a bit here and my computer really shouldn't struggle with it at all. Sims 3 looks pretty similar from the videos.

I think they have optimised it!

I just installed the siims 2 discs that the mrs has (she has all the expansions) and it took about 20 mins to actually get into the game after the install!
Thats on my system with 2 Velociraptors in RAID0!!

It's always like that after an expansion. Doing 7 at once probably didn't help. My brave little laptop can load it with all but the last expansion in a minute tops. Makes a change from our old PC where you could literally make a cup of tea while it loaded each new area.

I'm trying to work out whether said laptop can run it, but if it can manage the sims 2 on full settings it's probably gonna be alright.

have a look around chaos, i expect there are some command switches you can add to the shortcut to force a res. That, or you may need to set the aspect ratio (16:10) in game before it will allow you to select the res you want.

I have the sims 3 now (had a row with the mrs cuz she wants me to install it on the iMac.. Bollocks to that, I paid for it, I wanna play it first)

its pretty awsome in comparison to the older games.. a lot more free roaming feel to it and less confined to the house..
