So the power is the same but theres less range and it leaves an arrow on it?

A good tactic for snipers is surprise! If you tag someone they know your there (same will go for his team mates) and thus making them try to dodge your shots (most good players do this anyway)

Seems Ill be sticking to the normal rifle come the update (but mostly playing spy)

oh nice, looks like an awesome short-mid range weapon - no zoom, but much faster charging and possible trajectory, timing skills needed.  Makes the sniper much more mobile and should really add some diversity to his tactics, especially if you can charge whilst running about.

If arrows do the same sort of damage as bullets this is going to be fucking deadly, 1 second charge for a 125? damage body shot - thats most classes dead in two seconds if you can hit them.

that is the most effective beatdown of an argument i have ever seen

also about the actual update :p do you think it will be still right button to charge but without the zoom? i expect they will slow you to a walk when your charged to stop annoying spammery (rather than being able to run in and fire into a crowd then run out quickly enough not to be killed)

I think the speed down will be less than with the current rifle, the one second charge might not be a zoomed shot (making it harder to hit further away targets) the bow probably has a small spread (harder headshots).

In general I think this might be an interesting alternative, especially on camping maps.

I sure hope they will leave the ragdolls hanging from the walls in for the fscking german version. Tongue

If they do TF2 will become another prime candidate for the german index list. Just look at the picture on the updated site. Perhaps we will get different models once a player is shot (a pyro-shaped plush doll, for example)
BTW: One day my version started displaying guts and bodyparts instead of the party mode stuff which the german version featured before. Don't know why.
Jeah, its like FEAR 1 and 2. There's this nailgun it can pin peoples head on the wall. In the german version it was removed from the game.

Well back to topic: I think it will be like the stickybomblauncher, theres this little bar and when you hold down MOUSE1 hes putting an arrow on the bow.

Projectile (yay for Mount & Blade training!) + headshots can't be bad. Will be of limited range, which is fine, sounds okay, but we'll see.

Not really a too-close range weapon, thank goodness.

Well, its better than the ''rapid fire rifle'' I heard some guy talking about when Valve announced a closer range weapon for the sniper.

It will be interesting to see how many people go for embarassing shots, for example crotch shots and the like, considering the stick factor of the arrows  :Smiley

I have been waiting for weather effects for ages. Once fully implemented that could open some interesting possibilities, like having different weather for the same maps, or perhaps day and night. One map, different flavors ...
Even more interesting would be to have the engine using the weather for physical effects (mud, ice, slippery surfaces)... Unlikely, though.

And why do I suspect that this is a typical move of Valve to try a new effect on a small scale before integrating it on a large scale (on E3), just as I think Portal was actually born as such a trial project.
