This is how the developers want games to be shipped..
I watched a keynote on it saying that game developers are getting annoyed at distributers (like EA) who add or demand cirtain elements of a game (like halo 3 had that awful matchmaking system... bloody m$ demanded that, bungie didnt)
they didnt use actual words to describe this but the theme of the discussion was deffo pointed in that direction...
I think its brilliant!
you get your game for free and the trade off is that you see some adverts in games (ranging from billboards to tvs showing adverts)
so the developers get money based on how much someone plays a game, therefore its more important for them to make a game with a better life span and will hopefull lead to a growth in GOOD games that people want to play over and over

You're right, so far I'm loving it, QIII needed a revival and BFH is actually fun [trust me  ] I can live with advertisement as long as it's only when I naturally stop playing [loading screens menues and websites] |

you will see them in games.. but they wont interupt gameplay
just like you see them on the motorway, but they dont interupt driving

Dunno about QL [still haven't been arsed to actually try to play] but in BFH the adds are only on loadingscreens in game [no billboards and stuff like that]
