It was annoying me that I use facebook chat quite a lot but it is limited heavily to your browser. I also use MSN for a few contacts (our dear john included).

I know there were things like trillian that allows you to use multiple IM applications in one but I was wondering if there was one for facebook / MSN.

I quickly stumbled across Pidgin, an open source multiple protocol IM program.

Supports pretty much everything under the Sun, Facebook, MSN, AIM, ICQ etc. it even supports Xfire chat! (don't think it works with steam chat though Sad )

And because it's open source, with a bit of knowledge you could program it to communicate with those G15's you know & love and also those little status screenie things!

Ah well, for those of you looking to use 1 IM client instead of 2-3 - give Pidgin a go!

iChat isn't really available on Linux or Windows though...

Pidgen is quite good. Not upgraded it recently though, so haven't got that silly text box thing. On Mac I use the variant Adium since I didn't like iChat (and don't use webcamera stuff on MSN anyway, for that I have Skype).

I used to use Pidgin, but it doesn't integrate as nicely with windows as the official MSN messenger.  Things like alerting just isn't set up as well, the chat windows and the main window all minimised into one stack, and anyone changing status set off the flashy alert thing on the stack. I wanted it so it would only try and get my attention if someone actually said something to me.
