I honestly think it's worth dropping some percentage of ducats on a mouse if you spend any time wrasslin' wit' yo' compy box. (Quality) mice last a long time, and they dictate your user experience far more than say, a graphics card or ram.

Yes. I affectionately call it "mind". It's an OS running on the famous brain-hardware. Usually comes in a customizable case, also known as the "body".

Logitech's driver should be able to map buttons dependend on the app, but I've never tried this option so I dunno how well it works.
With logigamer (google it) you can even map f13 and the likes to it.

I have the G9... awesome mouse.

End of day its personal preference with mice.... All the high end mouses are similar spec and there not a lot in them, so best advice is to buy a top end one but go to a shop and see how well it fits your hand, and the weight Smiley The main reason I went for G9 shape and weight both adjustable Smiley

Every button on the Lachesis is programmable. So you can have any button do whatever you like!
I had the forward/back buttons on the left, the middle little ones were macros, and the right ones were for DPI/Profile switching

I had lots of profiles too.. ones for photoshop/cubase/individial games ect..

I get that you can do that, but I mean, if I set one of the middle buttons to, I don't know, spade Junta (I assume the mouse can do this automatically) can I use the last remaining button to switch between two different sensitivities? Like it can go down to 800 with one press, then when I press it again go up to 2000, then back down to 800 when I press it again?

It's not a gamebreaker, really, but I have to know as much as possible before pulling the trigger on a mouse. Because, well.

I'm Johannes Brahms, Chaos. No matter how good the speakers are I don't think my recording needs can be satisfied by a home studio.

Though I guess I could knock out a couple piano concertos on a MIDI keyboard and post them on Youtube.

(Actual reason I won't make a home studio, I cannot play any instruments)

More love to the G9 from me.
Made such a difference from my old optical(s).

The weight thing is really interesting as even though it's pretty small increments you can definitely feel the difference.

As for uses for extra mouse buttons-
I've got PTT for in-game and Vent/Mumble/TS on mine.
