Was playing Saturday night and the server was about half full, mostly non regulars.  2 Fort was chosen and the numbers slowly decreased.  We changed the map to Badlands and suddenly there was just me and Zarf left.

I like the occaisional game on 2Fort but it seems the majority of people hate it or that is the only map they play. Perhaps we should keep it off the voting list.

We played 2Fort last night - its nice to play once in a while. It has potential when both teams are actually attacking and are on a similar level of ability. Proficient spies and engineers sort of cancel out some elements of the game, but they are of course essential.

I still can't believe though that its ranked #1 on Valves most played map list!

As for Goldrush, I'm starting to hate the 1st stage. Its the most stalemate worthy map area of the entire game, and is getting to be a grind tbh. That said, I do actually play on the map and don't always moan constantly (Wink mark) about it either (just the odd grumble on this forum).

The fact remains that 2fort will always at least slash the server population in half, if not empty it entirely. On our server at least.

I've had some good games on there in the past (it's the only map I can play heavy on) but gets bogged down a little too easily. Scouts, spies and engineers are near essential, and other maps are just more... fun.

2Fort is a poorly designed map which usually promotes poor gameplay (read: Deathmatch). It generally attracts braindead people, that's why it's so popular.

Games *can* be very good, but it's much harder to get a good game going on 2Fort as on most other maps. And it's even more true on TF2 than it was on TFC.

CTF maps always end badly in TF2 in my experience, with no motivation to push on after 1 capture, the defending team will just hold on.

that said, i actually enjoy turbine more than 2fort, despite its horrible stalemateyness
