A while ago we had a session trying to learn some of the basics of the demo man (with mode laughing himself stupid trying to teach me to sticky jump.lol.)
I wondered if for the very class limited like myself, we could do some others. Spy and sniper would be great for me. Anyone else fancy learning some tricks of the trade from those who are more confident??? Some in a 'nutshell' advice??
Opinions??

Run and shoot!
In general I am only good at the "easy to learn" classes so I can't really teach...

I thought I was a very patient and helpful teacher. Personally I'm pretty confident with Spy, but some Scout & Sniper pointers wouldn't go amiss.

Very much in favor of this. I'd really like to be able to hit something with a sniper rifle. Rocket jumping is also more like rocket science for me... (Get it? ROCKET science! Hah! *ba-dum tschh*)

Scout , spy and sniper for me too! However, I fear that Scout simply needs natural skill that i don't have. Would definitely support a private server session for hints and tips

Seems to me that Spy is the hard class. Sniper and Scout need skills that many of us simply don't have. Spy has to be learned. The good spies have clearly mastered the cloaking/stabbing/camouflage routines which confuse me greatly the odd time I've tried. Cheez is our master here.

Not sure what others that play these classes think, but im afraid i think to become competent at sniper you just have to grind out those hours sniping. Scouting is simliar but there are a few things that being taught could shave a few hours off getting to the stage where you can play it well, such as (the under-rated) trick jumps to unexpected places, different tactics for attacking each of the classes and how to choose when to fight or run. Would definitely be up for a spy session though, because there are alot of things that could easily be taught. Not sure if i will be any good at teaching though Oh and r007 the way i learnt to rocket jump was by getting the basics off a video/wiki on the internet and then just bouncing around on self-made dustbowl server by myself (there are lots of full health packs on dbowl). Actually alot more fun than it sounds!

I think knowing your maps is the difference between being a good scout/spy and being a bad scout/spy. [sniper too but to a higher extend sniping is about aim]
I am not sure I could teach anything but I think that I could help learn...might even become better at it in the process.
I would like to volunteer to help with teaching new spies.

If possible I would also be interested in being at the receiving ends of a few lessons and tricks. As far as classes go I suck playing that would be demo and spy (having played a lot more demo lately and I'm starting to get a feeling for the class, but there is so much room for improvement). Sniper is probably a lost cause since I apparently can't hit the broad side of a barn.
But also I would be interested in some more general tricks and tips even on classes I don't play that bad, because obviously I'm still leagues away from any level of expertise. Not to mention that I suck on 1vs1.

I'd like to note that this is TEAM fortress 2. The secret behind being a good spy is being a better medic, a good medic knows where people are and how to get to them without getting hit the same skill is needed to be a good spy. Really medic teaches you a lot if you play it long enough.

I taught Snowman to spy, but I have no idea how you'd go about doing this over the internet. There's a good youtube video for it. Here is the video, it's a little outdated now, but if you check the description it'll explain.

Good point! I think to be a succesful spy you have to know how to play the other classes. Then you know how they will behave in some situations and its much easier to understand what they want to do ect.... For spies: link

And if you are a good medic you notice how other classes behave and you become a better spy.

When I want to practice sniper, I start up a pyro achievement map (the one where we had the WDG achievement session) and spawn a few bots. one of the bot modes just has them running about randomly in small area. Makes a nice shooting gallery.
Ideally you want to get used to being able to quickly moving the crosshairs and firing in one motion, rather than just waiting with your crosshairs on a corner.
