Installed the beta on my fairly slow laptop (Intel Core Duo 1.86Ghz (original one, not Core2), 2GB Ram), very impressed by the speed so far. I can actually play 720p videos and the hi-def option on youtube now!

It both feels faster and looks better than XP, Vista or Ubuntu which i've had on here at various times.

Install went without a hitch, even more streamlined than Vista. All Drivers installed automatically. Only had to download the synaptics driver so i could get touchpad scroll back.

So far, yes.
Apparently gaming performance is equal or better than vista. my laptop doesn't have the grunt to test this tho.

Yeah, I installed this when it was leaked, downloaded through torrents. Everything seems to be working ok using vista drivers.

Only reason I use Vista still is because i have everything installed on it, and not enough space on my 7 partition to install most of the stuff i use Smiley

May be installing it on my laptop but I am still in doubt because my dad was going to get us a good computer to run it on and I would like to see it there first (Laptop has vista which is pants!)

Testing is always fun, but yeah don't use it for main OS (as it is still a beta and might crash/kill computers)

The same reason you might play a class you usually don't play after an update:
Curiosity and the interest to form an opinion.

I wouldn't replace my current OS with it but on another computer or in a virtual box, why not?

Microsoft apparently plans a campaign in Germany to offer a full Windows 7 Home Premium for € 49,99 through a pre-purchase version available end of June. We have been offered that package. The SRP for the Home Premium is € 119,99, so it's quite a bargain. This campaign is allegedly limited.
No idea if similar offers will be available in the UK, but those interested in Win7 should keep their eyes open.
No release date yet, but most likely October/November.
