If anyone hasn't seen Blackadder and wants to chase it, go for series 2 and 3 - 1 is quite different and 4 is ok but not as strong as the earlier two.

I liked 1 because it was different (Edmund was such an ass, and it had BRIAN BLESSED!), and 4 had great moments actually IMO but yeah, 2 and 3 were great.

Actually I'd rank them with 2 and 4 equal, then 3 with 1 trailing (the latter seemingly the only consesus). Goodbyeee is just so good that it elevates the rest of the series, which was pretty strong to begin with.

Thought I should mention that I went to see Oliver in London on Boxing Day, which starred Rowan Atkinson as Fagin (which struck me as a good coincidence after reading this discussion). He played it like a cross between Blackadder and Bean, which worked surprisingly well.
