I'm also in the Market for a new Phone/PDA/Something. Basically for me I guess it comes down to iPhone vs Touch HD.
Moneywise it doesn't make much of a differece, so I'll have to consider features and Apps.

I would like to point out that I'm pretty biased (not towards winmo, but against iphones)

Windows mobile definitely has it's flaws - there is no doubt about that - but using third party roms (which I switched to almost immediately on my HTC Touch Diamond) can certainly help optimize it. This is mainly due to the qualcomm chips they use and them being very restrictive in terms of licensing for drivers.

One thing I find with mine is that there is a bit of gps lag, only of about 2 seconds and it's fine when i'm driving - but again - you can download a different rom to reduce that.

I went to Leeds for new years (2 and a half hour drive) and on the way back, we used my friends iphone to navigate - it was pretty useless. I would say it was pretty much impossible to use if you were on your own and driving. I have the TomTom on my phone and really think it's the best. And don't forget - you can also put google maps on the Touch HD too.

Also, the ability for winmo to run multiple applications at once, is pretty sweet. I have also heard the 5mp camera on the HD is much better than the iphone, and that an iphone struggles with bluetooth implementation. (and you can't copy + paste Wink )

I would say on battery life - probably about the same - need to charge every night?

And the touch hd has a much higher resolution screen Smiley

Those are my thoughts.

I think Touch HD won here...I just don't like G-maps bad cameras and App store [Apple is seriously sucking money out of me already with their music business]

But I am not planning to get a new phone for a while (as an upgrade of my PC is much more appreciated)

they also do a version with a slide out qwerty keyboard, microSD slot and a bigger battery (but slightly thicker) called the HTC Touch Pro:

It's a forum for people with smartphones and very technically minded (ROM/firmwares etc.) and I found some of the info there really useful when I was deciding what phone to get!

you might find it useful for tweaks/fixes (im sure a lot of people have had the same troubles as you, and this is probably the best place to find out)

30 mil. points in one combo, I was really good at holding balance in that game [but it all went to hell with Underground 2 where they resolved some bug I was apparently using in all the others Sad]
