Im assuming most people have noticed the 'Outbreak' achievement which asks you to catch a rare strain of infection and pass it on to someone else.
I was trying to find out what this means and while nobody really knows for sure (valve dont seem to have said) the popular theory is that a small random group of people who pre ordered the game were 'infected' which they then pass on to anyone they are playing with, thus giving them the acievement and allowing the spread of the 'infection'.
The point of this is to say that i got 'infected' this afternoon so if anyone wants this achievement jump into a game with me and if the theory is correct you should have the achievement in the bag. If not then i guess everyone is wrong.
Of course, you could all already have it, i havnt checked.

It must be random (not pre-order) I got mine after the game was released (by about 20 hours) and I started with the virus (I was the first person I saw to get the achievement)

as we were playing today, i got this this achievement for second time....strange Jan 11 You achieved Left 4 Dead: BARF BAGGED, DOUBLE JUMP, OUTBREAK.
Today You achieved Left 4 Dead: OUTBREAK. Does this achievement resets itself somehow? |

It was reset, yes. I think they changed the mechanism by which it was transferred.
