Ok, the replacement headset has now gone down the swanny leaving me to believe that Logitec are a bunch of cheapskate bastards that only make shoddy, easily breakable, poorly manufactured headsets I will be voiceless until after crimbo so expect lots of abusive chat messages*. On the plus side, I now get to take your advice and get me some Sennheiser's! * Comments made on the chat screen are purley banter and not to be taken seriously, you'll know if you've pissed me off because I'll ragequit!

Here's a handy hint for new homeowners: You can use broken headsets as washing lines in your bathroom or kitchen. They look good and they're practical

A difficult headset to find but well worth the effort.

So since my old Headset was dying I bought a Sennheiser PC151. First impression is good, though I have to make a thorough testdrive (which micht take a while, since you all are apparently in holiday coma), but there's a small detail which irritates me: Even with the volume set to minimum I can still hear sounds from my PC quite clearly (even with the headset lying a few feet away). Is that some kind of "feature" I'm not aware of or am I simply too stupid to connect the bloody thing properly?

I had the same problem in the past. But I have no idea how I fixed it.
Do you use Xp or Vista?

Did you try to change the regulators in the "Volume Controll"?
I did it this way and I think I fixed it....
Try everything, even if the settings are totally absurd.

Toyed around with those without much success. But basically what I would like to know is if it's correct that setting the volume control on the headset's cable to minimum will *not* mute it, but only reduces the volume to a level that is still clearly perceptible? (I kinda wonder if the dial controling the volume might be off? It's just a mechanical device after all)
