Now that we have a thread about what medics want from us, let's have the reverse, shall we?

note: this isn't personal, it's general.

1. Heal weak classes, especially scouts and spies.

I had a very good run one of these days, don't know who the medic was, but I am not mistaking it was reason. We were defence pushing back on goldrush or dustbowl. I was scout, and I went in the midst of enemies to kill the enemy medic and demomen mostly. every time I entered I killed someone, lost more than half my health, jumped back, and the medic immediately healed me, under 2-3 seconds. I didn't have to call out (I usually don't cause they ignore me anyway ... as if they would hate me ...). This meant after I surgically removed an important member of the enemy team, within 5 seconds I could already be back and harassing some more. That medic was awesome.

2. If pyroS bum rush, heal they target!

Generally speaking if your target takes good care of you, don't even second guess between healing, or attacking, If there is one enemy, then sure, but when three or more of them attack, trust the one you are healing and dodge like crazy. I know it's hard to trust most people, but being healed gives morale and confidence to your target, and if you stop, he will panic and die. And after he dies, so will you.

3. Don't pussy out of an uber. Don't run away alone before it ends.

4. Don't hesitate to uber a scout. Sure, you won't take out a sentry nest, but you will have 3-4 assists guaranteed, because noone can run away form a scout.

5. A wasted uber is better than a dead medic.

6. Kritz requires a different play style with loads more risk involved, but more benefit as well. If you have one or two ubering medics on the team, don't think twice about taking the kritz. First and foremost it's fun, second, it's devastating.

I'd question the value of ubering a scout? I'm happy to see it, but the scout can't run very far and hope to keep near the medic who is deploying the uber?

And before you ask, I have actually ubered a scout Cheesy - mainly because a) I was alone and the scout looked after me and b) it had to be done to defend a CP (worked quite well because the scout was rather talented - it was you trig).

I don't agree with you on 2 or 4 though ; I'll uber scouts if necessary, but I'd have to put them near the bottom of the list as uber targets. Even with kritz, scouts are too erratic to uber.

Kritz is awesome and I like getting it, but maybe 1 in every 5 really goes *fantastically*, and both sides have to realise that you don't usually get more than 2 or 3 kills. Reason gave me a great kritz last night though, was awesome Smiley

When you are soldier claws, I always go kritz, and you always deliver, not less than 3 kills on any kritz I gave you, and on defence we devastated the attackers on very many occasions.

I call medics usually when there is no fight, or noone burning. I know how annoying it is, especially with the scout voice. If I know I will survive and there is a HP nearby, I go for the pack, it's fast and reliable, unless I have good medics.

I am completely guilty of jumping around, even as a medic tries to heal me. Tried to stop, but every time I remember to stop moving, I am already healed. I may have ADD, or I'm simply so addicted to the rhythm of the jumps, I don't know. This I'll work on, I promise.

Claws that kritz yesterday was brilliant!  I think every one of your rockets got at least 1 or 2 (3?) kills Smiley

I think people need to understand that as medic all you really want is the glory of a uber/krits - we don't give a dam about keeping you losers alive, its just a means to an end!

Oh, and I forgot an important one(two):

7. Use uber to maximum efficiency. Don't fire it too early, wat for the very lasts seconds. When attacking the optimal time to start the uber, is when your target has 1-2 seconds to live. Like at around 50 hp. That means you can run straight in to position, and start the uber truly when it's needed, making sure the full length can be used to devastate.

8. When an enemy medic pops an uber, try and wait 5+ seconds before you pop yours. Make sure people don't die, and pop it when the enemies' end.

It only annoys me if it's people who aren't injured ; as a good scout you're higher up my imaginary triage tree than some others. The jumpy thing is just that if there's three people on fire, the easier I can get to you all the faster I can heal, but at least you stay near me (which is my biggest problem with scouts).

Also, if you're a scout and you have two paths, if you choose the one nearest the medic I'll try and give you a buff before you leave.

Not with you on Point 3, I find it's more use to the team if we try and finish the uber in a position to safely retreat back to our lines rather than going for that one extra kill and both getting instagibbed out of the game for 30 seconds the moment uber runs out.

If theres a proper objective, like a sentry to take down or a point to hold then i'll stay - otherwise i'm going to make sure our team has a medic to hand when they follow up our charge.

The unavoidable problem with threads like this is that it generalizes the topic, while most of the times it depends much on the given situation.

1. Heal weak classes, especially scouts and spies.

Perfect example: Depends on the situation and (of course) on the people playing those classes.
There is little justification to heal a defensive scout on dustbowl with 5 opponents pushing in on the final point when you have a friendly HWG, Soldier or the like which will be helped by you with greater effectiveness for the game goal.

But I understand where you're coming from since I myself tend to heal rather the heavy classes and very often ignore scouts. But then again a scout is able to get to a healthpack much faster than a heavy class.

Zarf has a good point. If you are facing death on the end of the uber it might be in the best interest of the team when the medic saves himself to continue healing.

Very good and important point!

And if I may expand on the topic of strategic ubers:

9. If you have 2 or more uber-Teams ready depending on the situation it might be smarter not to move in ubered at the same time, but to attack in waves, one uber after another.

Example Dustbowl: The first uber clears the sentries, then the second wave takes care of the heavy classes while already getting on the point ubered and the rest of the team can follow to complete the cap.

Oh, and another one:

10. When you have a uber ready stick with your target when entering combat unless you have a damn good reason.

Nothing worse than having a medic building up his uber just to have him abanndon you right the moment you engage the enemy. Not true, there's something even worse: When he switches targets while already ubered.
