I have no idea how I ONLY just found about this game.

This is genuinely one of those things which I have been wishing for since the first Guitar Hero. The premise is pretty simple - it's Guitar Hero which actually teaches you the songs, plugging in your own guitar to use as the controller. I play the Bass currently, but I like every other male have rockstar ambitions and frequent dreams of doing lines of coke off a hooker's chest - none of which can really happen unless I learn a real instrument.

This therefore got me so unbelievably excited I actually drew up a Christmas list so I can badger relatives for gifts that I will probably have forgotten why I want them when December 25th finally arrives. On that list, is a guitar obviously as the one which you can buy in a bundle with the game is apparently a crock of shite. That's another story however....

Unfortunately, due to Licencing for the tracks in Europe, and some prick from a band here which shares the same name, the release has been pushed back into 2012 sometime.

However, being the impatient child that I am on the inside, I'm looking to order the PC version from the US so I can have it by Christmas.

Assuming I order the retail copy, rather than Download it, will it work here in Europe?

To be fair, I was planning to do the thing they said fixes the lag *anyway*, and the other points don't bother me.

nothing will beat good old fashioned 1-1 guitar teaching. A good instructor will know where you're struggling and how to fix it. He'll provide you good advice from his own experiences. I have no faith in this game as a method of learning real guitar. Could be fun as a game though.

Roughly equivalent to my thinking. Personally I had lessons for a couple of months for basic technique and such like, then just carried on with tabs. Worked best for me at least! Even the littlest most obvious things like holding the pick correctly, then moving on to palm muting, playing barre chords, tremolo picking etc. that a game probably couldn't teach you.

If it gets cheap then I might take a look. I'd like to know more about the technology, some kind of clever real time frequency analysis? Sounds interesting anyway.

it's also just teaching you to play songs, not what a scale is and why it's important to know them/how to use them.
Playing guitar is about 30% technique and 70% theory.

It depends what you want to get out of playing guitar. If you're interested in composition or improvisation, then yeah, you need the theory. If you just want to play songs you like for yourself then it's not needed.

It covers alot of that side in the other games it has included, amongst them are like a series of mine-games which are based upon learning theory.
