Could have posted it in the "You Laugh..." thread, but felt the topic might prompt further discussion.

Next time I talk to my Dad on the phone I'll be asking him for his opinions on what things being discussed in the media are really relevant (like the Haliburton concrete thing). He's a drilling superintendent for a deepwater department and has years of experience as a drilling engineer specialising in HP/HT wells like the Horizon, so pretty much as qualified as anyone to talk about the issue. Will post up anything interesting here.
