Plantronics & Sennheiser are pretty good headsets.
The Sennheiser PC161 is awesome.
The only objection I had about it was that I didn't realize that I still wore it after a while and when I tried to walk away from my pc it nearly strangled me.
Sennheiser are excellent - I have the PC166 which has a mini sound card in a USB stick that you connect to your PC. The headset itself can connect to the USB soundcard stick or direct to other audio ports on the PC (i.e. using your own soundcard).
The quality of the sound from the USB stick bit is excellent, and the headset is very sturdy, comfortable and takes whatever punishment I've dished at it. Microphone quality is high too.
Best thing: Any sound settings stay on the USB stick so your sound card set-up can walk from PC to PC. Awesome and much better than my Realtek onboard soundcard!

The price here is a bit steep (I paid much less tbh), no doubt you could find cheaper.
Alternatively, the one Ringel recommends is the same as mine but without the USB soundcard bit!
